The SPARTAN on the go

Bill Mills send us few photos he took with the opportunity of the moving of the SPARTAN, the NY50 which was undergoing restoration in Mystic, Connecticut by the MP&G boat building company. The unique boat has been moved form its place of restoration in the last several years, to the Mystic seaport dry-dock, so it will be fitted to its keel.
SPARTAN is the only surviving Herreshoff designed and built NY 50, the biggest of the series of International designs by the Bristol boat building wizard.
Bill Mills and his Stonington Boat Works have been contracted, to build the huge spars for the SPARTAN along with the beautiful tender, a Columbia design with full flotation, also by Nat Herreshoff. This last was mostly conducted by Emery Jackson from the IYRS graduating class of 2006
